An individual or company acting on a client's behalf to process and close orders to buy or sell commodity contracts is a commodities broker. As opposed to a trader, who does for himself what a broker does for clients, a commodities broker is working full time for a client. Some clients who trade on their own to prevent expected loses from falling stocks are called hedgers. Speculators usually buy from hedgers hoping that they would gain when the expected fall will not happen or when the stocks rebound.
